3 Tablespoons whipping cream
1 Teaspoon almond extract
1 1/2 Teaspoon baking powder
3/4 Cup Butter softened
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
3 Cups all-purpose flour
1/2 Teaspoon salt
In a large bowl combine 1/2 cup sugar, butter, egg, whipping cream, vanilla and almond extract. Beat at medium speed until light and fluffy. Add flour, baking powder and salt. Beat at low speed until soft dough forms. Cover with plastic wrap. Chill 1 to 2 hours, or until firm.
Heat oven to 400 F. On floured surface roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Using large cookie cutters, cut desired shapes into dough. Place shapes 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 4 to 6 minutes or until edges are lightly golden brown.
Decorate cookies with royal icing and granulated sugar. Let dry completely before storing.

2 cups of confectioner's sugar ( plus more if needed)
5 tablespoons meringue powder
1/4 cup of water (more if needed)
Beat together all ingredients in a electric mixer with whisk attachment on medium speed until smooth and opaque white. About 7 minutes. If the icing is too thick add more water. Use immediately or store in refrigerator in covered containers.
